Hi {{first_name}}

Its been a while… and thats on us, we have been very busy in the background over here at HQ. This winter has been a S-T-R-U-G-G-L-E with the bugs and we have all been hit from every angle (thanks again daycare) ;-)

This week - Kim flew to Canada and is currently at an Iron Maiden concert in Montreal as I write this (If you are based there - drop us a line, perhaps you can grab a coffee with Kim). Andrea attended the Internal Talent Awards last night- Congratulations to all the winners. And yesterday we attended the EPIC Start Up People Summit online - that opening video was CLASS Matt!!!!

Friday is now upon us in the land of OZ, so lets get stuck in to this edition.

But before we do we just want to shout out an absolute legend in our community and say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS NICOLLE 🎉

Nicolle was named the winner at the B&T Women in Media Awards in the People and Culture Category! When we saw your post (feel free to jump on and congratulate Nicolle) we were over here cheering 🥳 LOVING your work and HUGE congratulations!

Rigghhhht, lets get down to business. Our newsletter has had a facelift (we hope you like it) and its not the only thing to be evolving…. You know that at humaneer our vision has always been to make HR easier (I mean it sounds simple when you write that down), and we have been delving into what that means… and we have (finally) landed on it.

Drum roll…….

We make HR easier through collaboration, capability and technology. And honestly creating these pillars has given us clarity. Here’s how it looks…

Collaboration - This is the beating heart of humaneer and we have been drilling down on what that looks like for us all. Less noise. more relevance and easier connection (I know how busy you are, every event, session has to to be super useful) . So we are ramping up in person and virtual opportunities to connect and collaborate- and for ease you can find the calendar here. Andrea has been working her magic to bring the most interesting people and conversations together in a way that ensures connection learning and ideas. GO ANDREA!

OK onto Capability - We all know how much the world of work is changing with AI - and we all know we are going to have to develop new skills and the build capability around it. So we rolled up our sleeves, did the research with GoFIGR and assessed 100 Roles and 1800+ task in HR. Yep we brought the receipts and have partnered with the incredible team at Shilo to launch the HiAi Institute™ - you can check it out here when you have a second. The reasearch paper for the HR Skills that survive AI can be found here.

And finally Technology - This is where Mak comes into the fold. Our incredible development team have been working with Kim to get Mak2 ready and we have been onboarding our first customers. And for the first time as HR practitioners we can access tech that not only helps us do our jobs, but also increases management capability AND gives People Risk early Indicators (across multiple categories)…. I know….RIGHT!!! - if you fancy a quick look at Mak - just click here

So there we have it, focus and clarity about where humaneer is right now. I hope you have found this useful/interesting because what we have collectively built together over the past 2 years is very very special and this evolution has been shaped by every conversation we have been having with you, we are so grateful you are here, thank you 🫶

NEED TO KNOW

AI and Fair Work cases… folks, take note

OK, so we all know AI is changing the world of work at speed, but it’s also changing the number (and quality) of cases landing with the Fair Work Commission.

The Commission has reported unprecedented growth in its workload - previously projecting that total case numbers would rise by more than 70% over three years. It believes the growing use of generative AI has played a significant role. Turns out, when it becomes easier to draft a claim, more claims get submitted… including some with made-up cases, incorrect facts and VERY optimistic predictions about potential outcomes. Yep AI hallucinations have officially entered the workplace relations conversation.

So, what’s changing?

From 20 October 2026, anyone using generative AI to prepare documents for a Fair Work Commission matter will need to:

  • say when and how AI was used;

  • check that every fact, legal reference and argument is real, accurate and relevant; and

  • make sure witness statements reflect the person’s own knowledge, experience and words.

And for HR folks? This is probably the nudge we all need to get really clear on how AI is being used in employee relations, workplace investigations and legal responses.

AI can absolutely help us work faster - but it can’t own the outcome. Human review, good judgement and careful fact-checking still matter (a lot). And please - don’t put sensitive employee information into an unsecured public AI tool.

The big takeaway? AI literacy is fast becoming a core HR capability-and that includes knowing when NOT to use it.
